Were the attacks on 9/11 on the World Trade Centre work of the terrorists or of the American government? Ask a Question

Well I better not watch it then.

That's it, listen and believe everything you read/see on the internet. When did you fall off the turnip truck? Yesterday?

Hey - I don't down click you just because I don't agree with you. Rather rude thing to do within a minute of my posting. Especially when the comments are intended to be funny rather than just nasty. That's the tone Wing took, and so it was the one I took as well.

I didn't and I usually don't.

Okay - I believe you. But my comment, the down click, Wing's up click and your comment all happened within (roughly) a three minute window. That's why I had calculated it was you. My apologies.

Try this link, you won't like it but it may clear your head of the awful thoughts you have been having.

The Government. So it was the GOVERNMENTS fault!

I believe the Saudis funded it...and our government ignored the warning signs.

A lot of different opinions are known. Very a lot of different methods and ways or ideas how it happened or who it did.

Maybe it'll be a question for ever and we'll never get the answer.

In former days I knew for myself the Terrorist did it, for sure! But after seeing a lot of documentaries and films I don't know what to believe!

Bozo the Clown got together with a few Disney characters and they recruited and organized The United Association of Winnebago Owners into an elite fighting force. They did it, but I may be wrong there.

I disagree. It was NOT George Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and the Republican party. It was terrorists.

(hee hee hee)

I voted you back up, silly!

Having read both sides of the debate, I am yet to be convinced that anyone other than terrorists carried out the attack. As for what went on in the background...who knows, hell, even the terrorists probably didn't know who pulled the strings - but we would be foolish to believe that groups like Al Qaeda are not capable of the organisation required, that would be a dangerous underestimation.

I'm with you. If it'd been us - there would have been different targets. The WTC and the Pentagon would not have been the choices of our government. There are far better targets that would have gone a lot further to hurt Americans to the core. Those targets ARE, however, obvious choices for angry foreign terrorists.

That's a really important point a lot of people miss, the targets were what "the ouside world" sees as iconic images of America - and what were viewed as the centers of the military and finance. They were targets that the whole world would recognise too, giving the intended message a wide understanding.

Everything I have seen that claims to be proof the government did it can be refuted, or it's just plain conjecture. And to me, it just doesn't make sense anyway.

You know - I remember when the WTC was built. To me it was NEVER a symbol of America, and I can't imagine any average American ever thought of it as a symbol of America. It was a symbol of New York City. Any film set in New York always featured a clip of it so American audiences would know exactly where the film was set without ever having to explain. But to a world of people (most notably terrorists) who hated America - it was a symbol of financial dominance. They hated it and thought of it as an ultimate symbol of America and capitalism. And the Pentagon, under NO circumstances, would ever be attacked by the government. They would have chosen something else.

NYC is a symbol for America - that's why they always blow it up in movies. (As a longtime New Yorker, I usually cheer at these scenes. I really loved Cloverfield, too!)

I remember after the 1993 attack, Newsweek interviewed someone claiming to be a terrorist (it might have been Bin Laden? was a long time ago) and he pointed at the WTC and told the reporter that the only reason those things were standing was because they hadn't figured out a way to bring them down yet. It was a huge symbol for them...as was the Pentagon and the White House (where I believe that last plane was headed).

Terrorists did it...but I think our government showed great hubris in ignoring the warning signs.

Totally agree with ya.

I kinda think, if the government had to choose something they thought a terrorist would attack, they would have picked the Statue of Liberty, because it's almost too obvious.

If you think it was the government, you are delusional.

yup.

Maybe it's not a symbol of America for Americans, but for sure for the other countries in the world.

If you would have asked me what I see as the symbols of America, I would have said the Statue of Liberty, the WTC and the pentagon!

The Statue of Liberty would have been the perfect target for the government to choose. On a pretty day in the late morning - would have killed just as many people if not more since it's located on an island and people could not have escaped as they did from the WTC. It would have also enraged Americans beyond all reason whereas the WTC simply broke our hearts. And this administration would have never gone after the Pentagon. They would have hit the Capitol while congress was in session. If any congressional members would have been 'in' on a conspiracy of that type - they would have simply been absent that day. Those two pieces of logic make it very clear in my mind that it was NOT this administration - or even a 'super-secret organization' that supposedly 'runs' the government (lol) - behind it. This administration simply used the terrorist attacks to their full advantage and exploited it for their gain.

Can somebody give me some points.. :o I want to be on the homepage. :D
