I really don't think any one thing will lift the economy. There is a global financial slump and credit crunch, coupled with the oil crisis I seriously doubt there is a quick fix for anybody.
I don't know, they were talking about how the new legalization of same-sex marriage in California will cause millions of dollars in marriage events that will come in a big pow. People are coming from all over the nation, and world, and spending thousands of dollars for weddings...
Oh I don't doubt for a second that each of the suggestions in the question would all be good ways of raising revenue. But for a recession to stop, everyone from the lowliest blue collar worker to the top companies need to be brought back onto an even financial keel and that can't be done with a few million dollars, let alone thousands. I think the issue with the price of oil has got to be a priority, the knock on effect of that is having a terrible effect on the global economy.
For the record, I'm aware that no single one of these strategies could Totally eliminate the crisis - but I guess it should have been phrased more to the tune of : "which of these would do the most towards ending the economic crisis"
I wrote a WHOLE bunch of crap on another poll (about the US lifting the ban on off shore drilling) so I'm sure not going to babble it out for you guys again. (lol) But I think it would work. Hits jobs, the economy, oil crunch, etc. I was pretty proud of my rant(s). A bunch of replies and ideas back and forth. Take a look - I think I'm going to show up and demand to be Obama's nutcase Secretary of the Interior ... (lol)
It mostly consisted of Roosevelt-esk ideas only applied to jobs created within the energy, manufacturing, and education industries.
Condemn Washington, raze it to the ground, and sow the land with salt?
Not really, but it has a certain appeal.
Rein in big corporations, re-regulate them, and get the hell outta debt.
Are you a communist?
No.
I have said repeatedly what I am.
Anarcho-syndicalist/rational anarchist.
Google them.
I don't need to google them.
Did I miss a joke? Like waugs calling me 'elitist'?
????
Communist?
The best thing to do is get rid of NAFTA and start charging the big companies that make everything over seas import taxes. The second best thing to do is stop companies from merging. That eliminates competition and the merged companies can charge you what they want and not what the product is worth and they don't have to worry about price wars.
Are you a communist?
No. I believe in a free market society that is competitive and where everybody benefits, not just the managers. That's not what is happening now and it started before Bush.
Social help is a form of communism. "Give 'em more to keep 'em in line and on our side", instead of having them get off their fannies and get a job.
