Do aliens actually exist? Ask a Question

Probably. They just don't visit a slum like Earth on their summer vacation.

I said yes because to completely deny there existence would be a bit stupid. Remember when we thought the earth was flat and when we thought all the celestial bodies revolved around earth

LOL! You have indeed proved aliens exist!

ALIENS, ALIENS EVERWHERE!!!!

We have exactly ZERO evidence that aliens exist. Having said that, logical thinking dictates that they do exist somewhere in the universe. However, as dauguy pointed out, there is NO evidence that they are buzzing around abducting people, mutilating cattle and probing anuses.

Then why is it logical that they do exist?

Statistics. In the hundreds of millions of planets in the Universe, it is likely to the point of certainty that at least one other has a tidally-locked moon, is the right composition, the right distance from its primary for water to cycle between frozen and liquid, etc.--in other words, meets the criteria as we know it for life--and that life has then evolved to the point of developing language (that seems to be the critical capacity for developing 'high' technology).

Right... what she said. The universe is really, really huge. Just in our galaxy there are close to a billion stars... and we can see hundreds of billions more galaxies.

Not in my opinion they don't.

The universe is too big to claim there isnt lifeforms somewhere(intelligent

lifeform on the other hand).

I was one for 14 years.

lol ... so THAT was YOU ... hmmmm ...

For some reason I think the aliens that abduct humans are really stupid. They'll bypass Heidi Klum's house and abduct Backwoods Betty and bang her instead. That's just doesn't seem intelligent to me.

rofl

hahahahahahahaha

How else can you explain the Baldwin brothers?

First lets define the word "Aliens". Typical definition seems to be - "An extraterrestrial civilization with technology that is far in advance of our own that is capable of interstellar travel." If we assume that definition then scientific evidence would indicate that they do not exist. Consider that such civilization would have to achieve our technical base hundreds if not thousands of years ago. If that had happened they would be generating communication "chatter" (like we do) that would have reached us from even the most distant stars. Since we have not detected such signals it would mean that there are no "aliens".

But what if they communicate telepathically???

(hee hee)

There is no scientific evidence that telepathy exists. You can not use one unproven phenomenon to support existence of another unproven phenomenon.

how do we pick up "chatter" millions of lightyears away. or maybe ,(please tell me someone has read Enders Game) they are like the buggers, they don't have to talk they have only one mind.

Consider that we have been active in electromagnetic spectrum for over 100 years (Marconi sent the first radio communication in 1895). We have been sending out TV signals for over 50 years. Any advanced civilization would have been producing electromagnetic signals for many centuries if not many millennia. These signals would reach us long before their spacecraft ever would - because they would have started producing those signals long before they would achieve interstellar travel. As we have not received any such signals - it means that no flying saucers are imminent either.

As for "Ender's Game" - it is a fantastic science fiction novel with an emphasis on fiction. For instance it relies on the concept of instantaneous interstellar communication. We can imagine a great deal. But as long as those imaginary things are not supported by our scientific knowledge, they are a matter of faith. As such space aliens are on an equal footing with Santa Claus and Easter Bunny.
