Consider that we have been active in electromagnetic spectrum for over 100 years (Marconi sent the first radio communication in 1895). We have been sending out TV signals for over 50 years. Any advanced civilization would have been producing electromagnetic signals for many centuries if not many millennia. These signals would reach us long before their spacecraft ever would - because they would have started producing those signals long before they would achieve interstellar travel. As we have not received any such signals - it means that no flying saucers are imminent either.
As for "Ender's Game" - it is a fantastic science fiction novel with an emphasis on fiction. For instance it relies on the concept of instantaneous interstellar communication. We can imagine a great deal. But as long as those imaginary things are not supported by our scientific knowledge, they are a matter of faith. As such space aliens are on an equal footing with Santa Claus and Easter Bunny.
A well paid professional may do one thing (though this well paid profession gave up on Bigbucks a long time ago). What office assistants, college kids and so on do is another.

There is no scientific evidence that telepathy exists. You can not use one unproven phenomenon to support existence of another unproven phenomenon.
